Honor a Caregiver

Are you a Grateful Patient?

We would love to hear about how the SGMC Foundation has impacted your life.

You can recognize a physician, nurse or other care provider who made a difference for you or a loved one through our Grateful Patient program. When you honor a care provider who took remarkable care of you, they receive a card with your special message and a custom-crafted pin to wear proudly each day. The amount of your gift will not be shared.

Gifts received from grateful patients make it possible for us to provide state-of-the-art technology so that our doctors and nurses can continue providing the best possible care for patients.

Honor a Loved One

A memorial or tribute gift is a special way to honor someone in your life, celebrate a birth or remember a loved one who is no longer with you while also helping your community.

Your gift will support South Georgia Medical Center ensuring exceptional health care programs and services for the people of South Georgia for years to come. Donations may be unrestricted to the Area of Greatest Need or designated for a specific program or hospital campus. The honoree or honoree’s family will be notified of your gift, but the donation amount will not be mentioned.

If you prefer to make your gift by phone, please call us at (229) 433-1076.

Leave a Legacy

You can extend your support to SGMC by making a planned gift. Planned gifts include bequests, charitable trusts and annuities, and life insurance gifts. We always welcome the opportunity to discuss with donors the many options available for maximizing their philanthropic impact at SGMC, including ways to include SGMC in estate plans. When you include the SGMC Foundation in your estate plan, your generosity makes exceptional health care more accessible in the communities that we serve.

If you or a family member have made provisions for a gift to the SGMC Foundation within your estate plans, we would love to celebrate you now as a member of our Legacy Giving Society, the Heritage Circle. Employee Giving

Our employee giving program is more than just a charitable donation, it’s another way that members of the SGMC community choose to demonstrate human kindness through their philanthropic support. Philanthropy is a vital part of any hospital’s healing mission, and employees play an important role in that mission.

Giving Societies

The Cornerstone Society

The Cornerstone Society recognizes donors who contribute $1,000 or more annually to SGMC. As the foundation on which a whole structure depends, the cornerstone is the most solid, important, carefully constructed component of a building. In the same way, the Cornerstone Society, is a pivotal part of the South Georgia Health System’s mission.

The Silver Cross Society

Membership in the Silver Cross Society is reserved for individual donors who have made a personal commitment to the mission of SGMC by achieving a lifetime giving total of $10,000 or more. Silver Cross Society members enhance the health of those we serve through their loyal contributions at a leadership level.

Pineview Society

Named in honor of South Georgia Medical Center’s beginnings as Valdosta’s first not-for-profit community hospital, Pineview General Hospital, that opened its doors in 1955. The 100-bed healthcare facility served Valdosta and surrounding counties. By 1971, the hospital had grown considerably. Because Pineview was serving the healthcare needs of more than 200,000 persons from South Central Georgia and North Florida, the hospital’s name was changed to South Georgia Medical Center in 1971. The Pineview Society recognizes donors who reach a cumulative lifetime giving total of $100,000 or more to the SGMC Foundation.

The Heritage Circle

The Heritage Circle honors all friends of SGMC who have made provisions for a gift to SGMC within their estate plans. Individuals are welcomed into membership once they have documented a deferred gift commitment to SGMC. These include bequests, charitable trusts and annuities, and life insurance gifts. This distinguished society honors all planned giving donors for their support of SGMC’s mission and vision for the future.
